Austria – Austrian police crackdown on illegal slot halls

By - 16 June 2017

Austrian police have seized 609 illegal gambling machines from the beginning of the year until the end of May in Upper Austria.

The crackdown across all of Austria has been 1303 units seized since January.

In Upper Austria, three companies – Admiral Casinos AG, Excellent Entertainment AG and PA Entertainment AG – currently have a license to operate gambling machines.

Elmar Podgorschek, an Austrian politician for the FPÖ, said illegal equipment is installed at more than 65 locations in Upper Austria, including the backrooms of restaurants and petrol stations
“Sadly there are many black sheep among the operators. A device costs about €5,000 euros but can generate €7,000 in one week,” he said.
