Belgium – Brussels looking at standardised online gaming laws

By - 22 November 2018

Plans are emerging from Brussels for a project to create a European standard for online gaming to unify regulations across the continent.

The Director of the Belgium Gaming Commission Peter Naessens will lead a new project for the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) charged with standardising online gambling regulations across the EU.

The project aims to pull together industry bodies and regulators across Europe to create rules for compliance and reporting that will become standard in the industry.

The Technical Committee 456 aims to standardise the data that online operators must send to regulators. The directive was issued by the European Commission entitled “Standardization request to the European Committee for Standardization’ as regards a European standard on reporting in support of supervision of online gambling services by the gambling regulatory authorities of the Member States.”
