Cambodia – NagaWorld reinstates striking workers

By - 28 June 2013

NagaWorld, the only casino in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh, has now reemployed 100s of casino workers after informing them they were sacked after striking over pay and employment conditions.

More than 400 workers at the property were dismissed or suspended last week after demonstrating to bring attention to their pay demands of $80 to $150 as well as better working conditions.

Sok Narith, Vice President of the Cambodian Tourism and Service Workers Federation, said a successful court injunction saying workers would end their strike if the company reinstated them paved the way to their return.

The dispute, he warned, had not been resolved.

“We are not happy yet because our demands have not been met,” he said.
