Chile – Chile reports results of entire casino industry for the first time

Gross Gaming Revenue for the casinos operating in Chile including the seven municipal licences reached US$57,391,100 in September according to data released by the Chilean Gaming control Board (SJC).

Of the total, the Sun Monticello came in first place with 18.2 per cent while the municipal casino in Viña del Mar came in second place with 12.2 per cent of market share. It is the first time that the board has released the results of the entire casino industry together and provides a far more comprehensive look at the size of the Chilean gaming industry.

The casinos which already come under the supervision of the SJC made up 69.2 per cent of the total – this is a positive monthly variation of 4.4 per cent compared to the same month in 2015 and an accumulated real growth of 4.1 per cent in the last 12 months.
The number of visitors in September stood at 462,851 – 4.9 per cent more than in September 2015 recording an accumulated growth rate of 1.9 per cent over the last 12 months. On average visitors spent $55,719 pesos each – 0.5 per cent compared to September 2015 and 2.2 per cent over the last year.

The municipal casinos which still come under the supervision of the local governments where they operate reported U$S17,651,569 gross revenues – 30.8 per cent of the total industry. This was a positive monthly variation of 8.2 per cent compared to last month and a cumulative real growth rate of 3.5 per cent from January to September 2016 compared to the same period last year. Visitor numbers (not including the casino in Puerto Varas which does not record this information) stood at 227,740 for September. However data for average visitor spend was unavailable.

In terms of gross gaming income generated by the casinos of the total of US$57,391,100 the Monticello Sun came in first place with 18.2 per cent ($6.787bn pesos). Casino Viña del Mar came in second place with 12.2 per cent ($ 4.536bn), and Casino Rinconada came in third place with 8.6 per cent ($3.188 bn). Marina del Sol Talcahuano 8.4 per cent ($3.116bn).
