France – Viking to open with 100 slots in Fréjus
By Phil - 12 December 2013French operator Vicking Casinos has invested over €10m in developing its tenth gaming floor at Casino de Fréjus in the Var department in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur region in southeastern France.
The casino, which will open December 13, has created 50 jobs with turnover in the first year of operation is expected to reach €12m. The local council will receive €50,000 for the annual contribution plus a tax calculated on the basis of gross gaming revenue, roughly between nine and 15 per cent of sales. Despite the French casino sector suffering a decline of nearly five per cent, Luc Le Borgne, Chief of the Vikings Group, said: “There is still room for casinos in France.”
Six casinos are already operating in the Var at La Seyne-sur-Mer, Hyeres, Bandol, Saint-Raphaël, Sainte-Maxime and Cavalaire.
The Fréjus opening will take France’s total to 197 casinos.
“If all goes well the town of Fréjus should see € 1.2m per year fall into its coffers,” Mr. Le Borgne added.
The casino will open with 100 slot machines as well as two tables of English roulette and blackjack.
