India – Goa to ban local play

The casino sector in Goa is to be hit with new regulations that will ban residents from entering casinos beginning at the end of February.

Goa has five offshore casinos and almost a dozen onshore casinos.

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar confirmed that the Goan casino sector will now focus on tourist only play.
A gaming commissioner will be appointed on with rules for casino gaming being finalised the same day, the chief minister said at a press conference at the state secretariat.
“Casino rules will be finalised by February 28 after which Goans will be banned from entering casinos. Only tourists will be allowed,” Mr Parrikar explained.
