Northern Mariana – Tinian Entertainment exploring how to reopen Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino

By - 16 January 2018

Tinian Entertainment Corp. owner Tim Chen has welcomed nine investors from Hong Kong to explore the option of re-opening the Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino.

The property was forced to close after amassing federal fines worth millions of dollars.

Mr Chen, one of the creditors involved in the casino when it closed, said he plans to engage with the Tinian Mayor San Nicolas to explore how the casino can be re-opened. He doesn’t want though to be weighed down by the $7m worth of fines.

“I’m the creditor of the Dynasty and that’s the reason I first came here,” he said to local media. “I have been thinking a lot about investing here so I tried to convince them to put some investment on this island because it is so beautiful. We will have a meeting with on how we can do it.”

Tinian Mayor San Nicolas said he wanted ‘three hotels and casinos on the island’ with the opening of the new international airport to provide a major boost for potential operators.

In June 2016, the Tinian Casino Gaming Control Commission granted a conditional casino license to Tinian Entertainment.

The license was granted during a public hearing held at the Tinian Courthouse on June 24, 2016.
Tinian Entertainment said back then that it wanted to “acquire, renovate, rehabilitate and rebrand the Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino, which is owned and operated by Hong Kong Entertainment Overseas Investment, Limited.”

According to Marianas Variety, the casino license that was issued to Hong Kong Entertainment was revoked by TCGCC in May, and was not transferred to Tinian Entertainment, thus the license issued to Tinian Entertainment is a new license.
