Paraguay – GTECH lands Paraguay lottery

GTECH Global Services Corporation has signed a five-year deal to supply the lottery technology and support services to Entretenimientos Generales, the newly awarded private operator of lottery games in Asunción, Paraguay.
Comisión Nacional de Juegos de Azar (CONAJZAR), the government body that provides regulatory oversight of the lottery in Paraguay, awarded the concession to Entretenimientos Generales, which shall undertake all aspects of operating the new lottery games under a concession contract between the CONAJZAR and Entretenimientos Generales, which was entered into contemporaneously with Gtech’s entering into the supply agreement with Entretenimientos Generales.
As the exclusive technology partner to Entretenimientos Generales over the term of the concession contract, Gtech will supply the hardware and software needed to operate the lottery central system, as well as online lottery terminals. It will also provide system implementation consultation and training to Entretenimientos Generales, as well as marketing support to ensure the expectations of the Paraguayan government are realized throughout the term of the concession contract with Entretenimientos Generales. The concession contract entered into between the CONAJZAR and Entretenimientos Generales, which will run for 60 months from the projected “start-up” date of early 2014, was the result of a competitive procurement.

Under the terms of Gtech’s supply agreement with Entretenimientos Generales, the firm will provide its Enterprise Series central system solution and 350 Imagine GT1100 terminals. The Imagine GT1100 is a full-function lottery terminal that accommodates retail locations with space limitations.
