By - 11 March 2015

The Hard Rock Casino brand continues to expand in the Latin American market with news that a new Hard Rock Hotel and Casino could soon open its doors in Peru.

Already in its advanced planning stages the director of Hard Rock Café Lima, Alberto Araujo, said that the company hopes to open the first Hard Rock Casino following the opening of a second local Hard Rock restaurant in Lima.

He explained that the luxury five star luxury hotel would be located in the district of Miraflores or San Isidro. “The plan to bring the Hard Rock Hotel Casino has always been there,” he said. “Before sanctioning the hotel franchise the brand carries out a study into the economic indicators of the country, amongst other factors, and Peru qualifies,” Mr. Araujo said. Total investment for the hotel is estimated to stand at around US$20m.

Hard Rock Casino appear to be making inroads into the Latin American market after news that the first Hard Rock Casino would soon be opening in Paraguay in the Hotel Guarani in the city of Ciudad del Este. The hotel will have 250 rooms while the casino will house 500 slot machines and 30 gaming tables. The decision to launch in Paraguay was, according to local press reports, made after a wide sweeping study was carried out by a team of local specialists who have provided advice on marketing, strategy as well as financial planning, government oversight and local gaming laws.

Hard Rock International has a total of 190 venues in 58 countries, including 144 cafes, 21 hotels and 10 casinos. The Hard Rock casino in Paraguay will be the first Hard Rock casino to open in South America. The complex will have an investment of between US$S70m and US$80m and could begin before the end of the year.

The decision to launch a Hard Rock Casino in Peru, meanwhile, was according to Mr. Araujo due to the success of the franchise which has proven popular with locals and tourists alike. The Hard Rock brand first came to Peru in 2013.
