Poland – Poland opens the online door for EU operators

By - 7 September 2015

A change in Polish legislation will allow European online operators to offer their services in Poland.

President of Poland Bronisław Komorowski has signed off a new amendment to the country’s gaming legislation that will allow companies established in the European Union to offer gambling services, as long as they commit to the terms outlined in the new legislation such as establishing a Polish presence through a Polish branch or a Polish representative.

President Bronislaw said: “Under the present legislation the following activities: card games, dice games, gaming machines, cash bingo, betting and lottery audio texts can be carried out only in the form of a joint stock company or a limited liability company, established on Polish territory.”

The Polish government submitted its first draft for the law change to the European Commission (EC) in 2014. It was then edited in January 2015 following analysis by a Subcommittee for Controlling the Budget Implementation, and it was then approved last month.
