Portugal – Online regulators meet in Lisbon

A new informal meeting of the German, Austrian, British, Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese regulatory authorities was held in Lisbon, Portugal, from May 10 to 12.

On this occasion, the Regulatory Authority for online gambling said several issues were discussed, including administrative cooperation, the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism, new types of games, virtual currencies, the cross-border application of regulations, the prevention of the manipulation of sports competitions and the integrity of the sports betting market.

The next meeting will be held in Rome in October 2017. “Following up on the Lisbon exchanges, (French regulator) ARJEL pointed out that one of the main themes would be the analysis of the risks related to the integrity of sports betting.”
