Spain – Cirsa records 5.1 per cent increase

Spanish-born operator Cirsa saw its operating profit improve by 5.1 per cent, reaching €81.3m in the first quarter of 2013. Cirsa reported income of €390m, up 0.3 per cent over the same period last year with results driven by the efficient implementation of efficiency plans in Spain, which have allowed the operator to better address the current market situation.

Property expansions and renovations carried out in Argentina, Panama, Colombia and Peru, all resulted in a significant increase in customers.

The group stated: “The BTB Division comprising machine gaming in Spain continued to strengthen its market leadership based on an innovative and efficient product strategy. In Mexico, both the efficiency in management and product upgrades and have been critical determinants in improving results. In Italy Video Lottery deployment has reached 2,400 machines, 93 per cent of the rights acquired and maintained Cirsa as the operator with the best performance in terms of machine collection. The advances in regulatory matters in bingo in Catalonia and Madrid, with Bingo Plus and Electronic Bingo respectively, have helped improve the adverse situation. In the field of sports betting face, Sportium consolidated its leadership position in Madrid and Aragon, with market shares of more than 50 per cent. Expansion is continuing in Valencia, where this month we will reach 300 terminals in operation.”
