Spain – July 27 opening for Admiral Casino San Roque

By - 18 July 2016

Novomatic will open the doors to its Admiral Casino San Roque on July 27.

Located in San Roque, seven miles north of Gibraltar, the Andalucian casino was closed by its previous owner Groupe Partouche in 2010 with the loss of 40 jobs before being bought by Novomatic in 2014.
Novomatic has invested $5m on the first of a three-phased renovation that will cost a total of $22m.

With an area of 4,600 square meters, it will boast two bingo halls, 125 slots, electronic roulette, eight gaming tables, multipurpose room parties for all kinds of events and international buffet. Future plans will see the addition of over 100 hotel rooms as well as a cinema, shops, nightclub and spa.

The rehabilitation of the building that will house the casino began in December last year. During the construction 100,000 meters of cable have been laid, 1,000 lights fitted and 5,000 linear meters of LEDs sinatlled. The complex will also have 10,000 square meters of parking. In the works 300 workers participated.

In addition, during the first 45 days there will be a special program with performances from artists such as Martirio, Tomasito, Alba Molina or Chekara, and tributes to great bands like The Rolling Stones and Abba and artists like Madonna and Jennifer Lopez.

Juan Carlos Ruiz Boix, Mayor of San Roque, said: “The casino is scheduled to open in the last week of July. I hope we have more luck than in the past and that this casino stays running for a long time. Novomatic is the fourth largest gaming operator in the world and is making remarkable improvements while adding new activities such as bingo. Our hope is that the second phase of construction will attract still more visitors and that several generations will use these facilities for leisure, which will provide employment for several generations of people in the municipality.”
