Spain – Merkur expands in Madrid and Prague

By - 24 May 2018

The Gauselmann Group has opened a new gaming venue in Madrid via its operating subsidiary Casino Merkur International.

The company is already well represented in Spain on the Spanish island of Mallorca where Casino Merkur International operates five branches under the brand “Merkur Salon de Juego”. The portfolio is now supplemented by the first branch on the mainland in Madrid. The company relies on a combination of exclusive ambience, best service and modern products. At the branch, guests can play at 24 modern slot machines.

In Czechia, where Casino Merkur International operates 23 venues, including eight branches under the Merkur Casino brand in Prague, the company has now expanded and modernised one venue from 500 to 1,800 square meters. It is now the largest casino in Prague with the number of slot machines increasing from 88 to 249. The casino also operates 11 live game tables for roulette, blackjack and poker. Around 500 guests came to the grand opening ceremony.

“With these steps, we are driving internationalisation and expanding our growth in markets abroad,” said Stefan Bruns, Managing Director of Casino Merkur International. “We will continue to increase awareness of the Merkur sun as a symbol of first-class gaming enjoyment abroad as well. Spain and the Czech Republic are strategic target markets for the company, which will be further expanded,” Mr Bruns added.
