UK – Betway keeps up eSports momentum

By - 22 February 2016

Betway has been announced as the title sponsor for Betway Fight Night, a one-off exhibition in which Astralis and Fnatic, two of the globe’s premier eSports teams, compete for a €4,000 prize.

The online bookmaker, who in August 2015 became the first firm to launch a dedicated eSports portal, will be offering a comprehensive collection of markets on the ‘Best of Five’ Counter Strike Global Offensive battle.

Astralis and Fnatic will be going for the lion’s share of a €5,000 prize pot, with €4,000 awarded to the winner and 1,000 EUR to the beaten team.

Betway Fight Night takes place at 7pm CET (6pm GMT) on February 25, and will be hosted on the Aftonbladet Twitch channel.

Anthony Werkman, Marketing Director of Betway, said: “Betway Fight Night pits the best teams of eSports against each other and the upcoming event is sure to capture the imagination of eSports fans. Since Betway launched its dedicated eSports portal, we’ve seen this area of the sportsbook grow exponentially and it regularly features in our daily top 10 sports for turnover. This is another way for us to join gaming fans in supporting the growth of eSports.“

Betway was the first major bookmaker to launch a dedicated eSports portal, giving fans the opportunity to bet on a wide variety of pre-game, in-play and long term markets. In the last 12 months, Betway has tripled its eSports team to accommodate the huge surge in interest from eSports bettors.

Alongside its support of eSports, Betway is official principal sponsor of English Premier League side West Ham United, Betway Premier League Darts, Betway UK Snooker Championship and Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham Festival, as well as the Davis Cup and Fed Cup.
