UK – Casumo continues expansion with UK launch

By - 12 October 2015

Casumo, the world’s first adventure casino, has launched in the UK after a successful integration of pound sterling into the popular platform.

Players receive valuables and trophies by collecting in-game points that unlock new levels and planets for their personalised Casumo to explore.

The UK activity follows successful roll-outs across Scandinavia that has seen Casumo become one of the fasted growing online casino operators in Europe since launching in 2012.

The company has more than doubled its active player base in Scandinavia in the past 12 months and its game-within-a-game format designed to erase boredom has resulted in industry best player value figures.
Casumo’s John Harmander, CMO said: “It’s an incredibly exciting time for our fast-growing company and the UK launch of Casumo is just the beginning. Many people’s first instinct when bored is to play a game on their phone, tablet or desktop and we look forward to many thousands of Brits using Casumo’s casino adventure as the perfect antidote for when a serious case of boredom arises. Casumo exists to erase boredom and it’s quite clear from our survey results that the British public is bored, with some losing over three weeks a year.”

Casumo commissioned a UK-wide survey on boredom to mark the UK launch, the findings of which revealed that the British public are bored for 18 days a year on average.

The research went on to show that Brits are more likely to reach for their mobile phones to fight boredom than read a book, go to the gym or even talk to their partner.

Respondents were asked to quantify how bored they were on an average day, with residents of Bristol responding with a UK high of 90 minutes – or nearly 23 full days a year.

Dispelling popular belief that London is the most exciting city in the country, Nottingham tops the list for least boring city, with residents bored for less than an hour a day.

Behind Bristol, Glasgow is the second most boring city in the UK according to the findings, with Liverpool, Norwich and Belfast making up the rest of the top five.

Brits aged 16-24 are shown to be the most restless, losing nearly a month to boredom each year (27 days).

Crucially for the industry, more than twice as many of that demographic would rather play a game on their mobile phone (60 per cent) than speak to their partner (25 per cent) to fight boredom.
