UK – Grosvenorsport.com to sponsor Goodwood’s Celebration Mile

By - 22 August 2017

Grosvenorsport.com has been unveiled as the new sponsor of Saturday’s Celebration Mile at Goodwood Racecourse.

The Group Two Grosvenor Sport Celebration Mile is the highlight of Goodwood’s three-day August Bank Holiday meeting. It is a race steeped in history which has been won by the likes of Selkirk, Cape Cross and Raven’s Pass.

Following Monday’s five-day confirmation stage, a total of 16 entries remain in contention for the £100,000 contest. They include last year’s winner Lightning Spear, Qatar Goodwood Festival victor Beat The Bank and a fascinating contender in the French-trained Taareef, who has been supplemented for the race.

Grosvenorsport.com has installed Lightning Spear and Beat The Bank as 11/4 joint-favourites with Taareef a 7/2 chance. The firm is also offering a special price of 10/1 for any horse to win the Grosvenor Sport Celebration Mile and go on to land the Group One Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on Qipco British Champions Day.

The sponsorship follows on from Grosvenorcasinos.com last month becoming the main team partner for Championship side Fulham FC.

Steve Munns, Head of Grosvenor Sport, said: “We are really excited to be sponsoring the Grosvenor Sport Celebration Mile, which is always a great race at one of the most beautiful racecourses in the world. We make the progressive Beat The Bank and last year’s winner Lightning Spear 11/4 joint favourites.

“This is our first horseracing sponsorship and we are certainly planning to extend our portfolio in the future. Horseracing is very important for us and we are committed to supporting British racing.”

Alex Eade, General Manager of Goodwood Racecourse, added: “We are thrilled to welcome Grosvenorsport.com as sponsors of the Celebration Mile, which looks set to be a stellar renewal this year.

“The Grosvenor Sport Celebration Mile is a key contest in Goodwood’s and indeed the UK’s racing calendar at what is always very a popular meeting for racegoers. We hope the race will prove a brilliant addition to Grosvenorsport.com’s burgeoning sponsorship portfolio.”
