US – IGT scoops supplier award for Australian slot design

By - 18 March 2014

International Game Technology has been honoured with the Supply Chain Leadership Award in the 2014 Manufacturing Leadership (ML) Awards programme.

The Supply Chain Leadership Award acknowledges IGT’s achievements in delivering the best-in-class manufacturing process to assemble its BC20, the industry-leading Electronic Gaming Machine (EGM) cabinet designed for Australian and New Zealand gaming jurisdictions.  Manufactured in Reno, the BC20 is born of a dedicated effort by IGT employees to revamp and optimise the company’s supply chain and related processes.  Having in-house manufacturing in the USA enables IGT to control all aspects of the machine assembly and deliver superior product customisation.  As part of a re-shoring strategy that brought all BC20 manufacturing to IGT’s Reno facility, the Company has been rewarded with a 55 per cent internal rate of return and 50 percent decrease in landed costs compared to the expense of outsourcing manufacturing abroad.

“We are extremely proud that IGT’s new manufacturing and supply chain model has been recognised with the prestigious ML Award in the highly competitive Supply Chain Leadership category,” said Matthew LaBranch, IGT VP Manufacturing Operations. “As the only gaming company to win an ML Award, we are honoured to create and deliver a world class product ‘made in the USA’ that sets the industry standard for manufacturing efficiency.  IGT remains focused on leading and transforming the casino gaming industry through innovation that matters.”

The ML Awards programme honours companies and individuals that are shaping the future of global manufacturing. In 2012, IGT won the Operational Excellence Award for its BC20 re-shoring project.
