US – Tropicana Atlantic City to get $35m facelift
By Phil - 19 March 2014Tropicana Entertainment, owned by billionaire Carl Icahn, is investing US$35m into renovating its Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City bringing a new LED light show to its exterior.
The money would also see 434 hotel rooms in the Tropicana’s north tower refurbished with work expected to be completed by 2015.
Tropicana’s President, Tony Rodio, said: “We are excited about the prospect of creating and investing in these innovative renovations. The new Boardwalk façade and interactive light and sound show would extend the excitement and fun guests experience inside Tropicana AC to guests outside on the Boardwalk.”
A choreographed light and sound show will be presented on 20-foot-high light bollards, and nine LED screens, running
at nightly intervals
and illuminating the Tropicana’s north and south hotel towers would be illuminated by color-changing lights.
The casino announced a 60 per cent revenue increase for its online gaming operation from January to February 2014. The company has seen online revenues grow from approximately $841,000 in January to $1.35m in February 2014 from its online casino at TropicanaCasino.com.
Mr. Rodio added: “Tropicana Atlantic City Online is an exciting endeavour for Tropicana Atlantic City and has helped us reach a new audience throughout New Jersey. We are very pleased with our revenue growth thus far and plan to continue growing as leaders in the online gambling industry.”
