Lichtenstein – Plaza Casino Liechtenstein set to open imminently

By - 22 December 2022

The Plaza Casino Liechtenstein in Schaan is due to open on December 23 at 5 p.m. in the former building of the Risch laboratory.

Opening as one of the smallest casinos in one of the smallest countries, it will cover just 400 square meters, offering six gaming tables of American Roulette, Blackjack and Texas Hold ‘Em along with 90 slot machines in what is being called Liechtenstein’s first ’boutique casino.’ Operated by BestWin AG, its Managing Director is Tobias Abel, who managed the now closed Casino Maximus in Schaan until mid-2022.

Following the opening of the Castle Casino in Vaduz last week, the number of casinos in Liechtenstein is back up to six casinos again following two earlier closures. A seventh casino is on the horizon with LC Casino in Eschen waiting for a licence from the Office of Economic Affairs.

After that there will be no new casinos until 2025. The electorate will decide on the continued existence of the casino industry in Liechtenstein in a referendum on January 29 2023. The initiative aims at a complete ban on casinos. If accepted, all approved casinos would be forced to close their doors after a transitional period of five years.
