AGEM Index falls month by month but shows 33 per cent increase on last year

The AGEM Index fell by 164.88 points to 1,615.74 in March 2025, a 9.3 per cent decline from the prior month. Compared to one year ago, the index rose 32.6 per cent, or 396.82 points.

During the latest month, each of the 12 AGEM Index companies reported stock price decreases, which resulted in 12 negative contributions to the AGEM Index.
 
The largest negative contributor to the monthly index was Aristocrat Leisure, whose 11 per cent decrease in stock price led to a 75.59-point loss to the index. Meanwhile, Light & Wonder, saw its stock price decrease by 22.3 per cent, leading to a 49.37-point decrease for the index.
 
The industry stock performances were among a broader decline for all three major U.S. stock indices amid uncertainty over federal tariff and trade policies. The NASDAQ fell by 7.4 per cent over the month, while the S&P 500 experienced a 5.4 percent dip. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 4.2 per cent from January.
