Argentina – SAGSE Buenos Aires postponed until March 2021

By - 20 April 2020

Monografie authorities has rescheduled SAGSE Expo Buenos Aires due to the COVID-19 pandemic to March 17 to 18 2021.

Moreover, throughout 2020, Monografie will hold SAGSE+ events in many markets in the region, aimed at boosting the sector on a local level.

“Argentina and Latin America as a whole are currently being hit by the consequences of the pandemic and begin preparing for the very difficult months coming ahead as the health crisis adds up to the business shutdowns, which results in a more than challenging economic context,” said Alan Burak, Vice President, Monografie.

“We believe that the unprecedented global scenario leaves all of us with no choice but to make decisions aimed at supporting the industry in the face of its worst crisis. Operators and suppliers worldwide are going through times of uncertainty, so, as the organisers of SAGSE, we understand that it would be irresponsible to offer a business event within an industry that is going to take many months to get back to normal,” he added.

“It’s time we acknowledge the seriousness of the pandemic and its consequences: gaming operators are sustaining huge economic losses in light of the mandatory closure of every gambling venue in the region, and manufacturers across the globe are witnessing how their sales freeze and their payment chain is interrupted, so there is no way a massive crisis like this could be over in just a few months.”

“Everyone knows investments by operators will not occur this year and that a series of actions will have to be taken to safeguard employment in every sector. As a consequence, the investment return we would be able to offer the companies that support us in SAGSE would not be adequate if it was held in December 2020, as scheduled. That is why we decided to postpone the event to March 2021, so we can grant the industry some time to recover, to generate the flow of income necessary for reinvestments and then offer the business gathering the gambling sector truly deserves,” he added.

“Despite all of this, we will still develop a series of one-day events aimed at boosting the recovery of every market in Latin America and that will be announced in the next few weeks. We know that once restrictions are lifted in each country, we will need to grasp all of the opportunities we can to get together with our clients and partners. That is why we will be offering our SAGSE+ gatherings, with the main focus on networking and the development of a valuable sharing space, in an attempt to revive all of our business activities.”

“I’d like to highlight that, just as we’ve been doing all this time, we will continue working on the new version of SAGSE: We are developing high-value innovations that operators, regulators, and suppliers will very much appreciate in this situation, and will still be present in March 2021. We will have even more time to enhance our innovation efforts and bet on a change the industry has been calling for for a very long time.”
