Austria – Casinos Austria opens Zell am See casino

New Year’s Eve saw the opening of Casinos Austria’s lakeside Zell am See casino, located between Schmittenhöhe and Zeller See in Eastern Austria, with 350 guests in attendance.

The 800 m² gaming floor located in the four star Grand Hotel Zell, boasts 50 slot machines and 21 tables, including five American Roulette tables, four blackjack tables, three poker tables, a wheel of fortune and 12 Easy Roulette terminals.

Guests staying at the hotel on New Year’s Eve were given 50 of gaming chips to spend in the casino.

Casino Director Paul Vogel said: “We’ve planned the project perfectly and with the Grand Hotel and Zell am See tourism centre we have the perfect partners.”

The opening saw more than 45,000 meters of cable laid and 10,400 metres of pipes fitted, 400 switches and outlets were assembled and 1,300 light switches were installed.

Casinos Austria General Manager Karl Stoss said at the opening: “Casinos Austria has opened its first new casino in Austria in 24 years and it’s a great pleasure that we here in Zell am See to open this year-round operation”
We have invested €4.6m and are expecting around 60,000 guests per year.
