Austria – Casinos Austria appoints new domestic casino boss

By - 3 August 2021

Casinos Austria has appointed a new leader for its domestic casinos with Thomas Lichtblau, previously Managing Director of the drugstore chain BIPA, taking charge of operations from September 13. He succeeds the previous division manager Christian Lang, who is leaving the company at his own request.

General Director Bettina Glatz-Kremser said: “We are happy to have gained such an experienced manager for this important business area in Thomas Lichtblau. This ensures that the chosen course for strategic repositioning and further development of the domestic casino business will be successfully continued. Due to his many years of international management experience, Lichtblau will be able to make a substantial contribution here. I would like to thank his predecessor Christian Lang for many years of excellent work for the group of companies, especially for the successful implementation of the restructuring program for the casinos, and I look forward to working with Thomas Lichtblau, .”

Mr. Lichtblau added: “Just like many other industries, the casino business is also in a major process of change. Being able to help shape this for a company as steeped in tradition as Casinos Austria is a special challenge that I am extremely excited about.”

At BIPA, Mr. Lichtblau was responsible for around 4,000 employees and more than €630m in net sales and played a key role in the successful repositioning and economic restructuring of the company. In his professional career he was able to gain a wide range of international experience in several European countries. The father of two has a degree in business administration and has held leading management positions for 20 years.
