Austria – Novomatic reports best ever first half results

Austrian slot giant Novomatic has posted the best first half results in its 35 year history with revenues up five per cent to €988m.

Revenue from the supply side of the business increased by 6.5 per cent to €418.6m whilst gaming operations were up by 4.2 per cent, hitting the €562.1m mark.

Novomatic operates over 232,000 gaming devices and video lottery terminals in more than 1,500 outlets including slot halls and casinos.

The company, Europe‘s largest gaming technology group, recruited more than 600 new staff during the first half of the current fiscal year. It employed 18,594 staff in the first half year of 2015, representing an increase of 3.4 per cent.

EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) rose again to €291m. Profit after taxe came in at €161.8m.

Harald Neumann, chief executive of Novomatic, said: “With this semi-annual result we were able to demonstrate once more that our strategy as an internationally active gaming technology group proves to be the correct way to success. Being a full service supplier to all segments of the gaming industry is one of our primary assets. In spite of aggravated general conditions we were able to increase our revenues. A significant growth in turnover was achieved in the UK, Spain and Italy.”
