Austria – Novomatic to shed 120 jobs in Gumpoldskirchen

By - 6 November 2020

Novomatic has said 120 employees will lose their jobs at the company’s Lower Austrian headquarters in Gumpoldskirchen, equating to ten per cent of its workforce there,
due to the downturn caused by the Coronavirus crisis.

Johannes Gratzl, CEO of Novomatic AG stated: “Novomatic has had to close numerous arcades and casinos, and in some countries the markets are still not fully opened or are closed again. In addition, a drop in sales revenue of up to 80 per cent for international customers shows the massive economic effects on the gaming technology business and thus also on Austria as a business location.”

“Due to the current situation in all relevant markets, cost and capacity adjustments are unfortunately not sufficient. Thus, part of the transformation program is also the reduction of around 120 jobs from all company divisions at the headquarters in Gumpoldskirchen – a corresponding registration with the early warning system of the Public Employment Service (AMS) is today takes place,” added Mr. Gratzl.

In addition to the social plan, other accompanying measures will be implemented for those affected, such as the establishment of a telephone hotline and additional advisory services.

Novomatic has around 22,500 employees worldwide, 3,100 of them in Austria with 1,200 in Gumpoldskirchen.
