Bahamas – NMi reaches 25 ‘Online’ gaming jurisdictions following Bahamas approval

By - 16 December 2015

The gaming division of NMi, the market leading compliance testing and auditing laboratory, is proud to announce their accreditation by The Government of The Bahamas, Gaming Board, regulator of the Bahamian gaming industry.

The current Bahamian regulatory regime has been live for just over a year following a complete revitalisation of the archaic 1969 Gambling Act. The regime includes provisions for domestic and foreign players to engage in online and mobile gaming activities dependent on their domiciled legal residence.

NMi joins GLI and BMM as a laboratory accredited to inspect, test and certify gaming devices and systems for use in licensed gaming operations in the Bahamas. The Gaming Board, who has adopted highly technical standards, similar to many jurisdictions worldwide has accredited NMi following a thorough application process.

NMi’s accreditation supports its commitment to gain coverage in all regulated gaming markets worldwide both online and land-based. NMi test and certify all types of content for both B2B and B2C online gaming operators, and offers supporting services such as security auditing and change management assessment.

Andrew Rosewarne, Director, said: “Following a lengthy application process we are thrilled to have gained approval in the Bahamas. NMi will continue to deliver trusted, reliable and flexible services and this accreditation demonstrates our commitment to offer choice to our customers wherever they choose to operate. The Caribbean and Latin America are promising to become high growth areas in the coming years. Modern compliance professionals have little appetite for risk and NMi’s expertise and knowledge in the field, and commitment to quality, is second to none. We are seeing unprecedented demand for our services and, as with everywhere we operate, we hope to make a significant contribution to the Bahamian regulatory framework.”

NMi recently gained approval in Peru and Portugal, and the Bahamas is the latest in an extensive list of iGaming specific accreditations covering regulated jurisdictions across the world. The regulatory landscape for iGaming is becoming increasingly complex and NMi are industry leaders, with over 40 years’ experience in the interpretation of complex requirements in the online, land-based, lottery and business security domains. NMi is determined to remain at the forefront of the industry.
