Belgium – Business support is critical if Europe is to get back to growth

By - 22 March 2020

Reflecting on a week in which the European population has been subject to increasing restrictions due to the COVID-19 outbreak, EUROMAT President Jason Frost said: “COVID-19 is an unprecedented public health event. As responsible companies, our members’ first priority is the safety of their 200,000 staff Europe-wide and many more players.

“Restrictions that many countries are putting in place are understandable but nevertheless painful from an economic perspective. We appeal to governments to ensure that business support mechanisms are in place to allow us to emerge from this event and play our role in getting Europe back to growth. We are currently consulting with members on the measures that they feel will help to pave the road to recovery.

“It is at times like this when the real value of the industry working in solidarity through EUROMAT becomes clear. I will be ensuring that EUROMAT is an effective voice for everybody in our sector during an uncertain period.”
