Belgium – Viage loses online gaming licence in Brussels

By - 13 September 2019

Viage Casino, the land-based casino in the Belgium capital of Brussels, has lost its online gaming licence.

The Belgian Council of State has cancelled the two licenses A + and FA + operated by Viage due to it offering casino style games and sports betting from the same domain name. Both offers took customers to the domain name betway.be, without distinction. Termed ‘accumulation of access,’ the Council of State has twice highlighted this in the past. Other Belgian casinos have been confronted with the same decision and have asked for new licenses. Casinos Austria International Belgium, which operates the Viage casino, will now probably do the same to become compliant, but there is a growing sentiment that it is the law that is wrong.

Another operator Rocoluc has already contested the law with the Council of State back in July 2018.
