Bermuda – Bermuda approves revised Gaming Act

By - 22 November 2016

Bermuda’s House of Assembly have passed revisions to the Casino Gaming Amendment Act 2016 signaling the green light for casino development in Bermuda.

Casino Gaming Designation Site Orders were also approved for the St Regis Hotel in St George’s and the Hamilton Princess.
Desarrollos Group, the developers behind the St Regis Hotel, has been granted a provisional gaming licence meaning it can start construction of its project. It will though have to apply for a full licence at a later date.
The legislation also allows for sports betting and online gaming.

Tourism Minister Senator Michael Fahy said: “The amended legislation provides for a provisional licence to be given to the St George’s developer which will still permit the Casino Gaming Commission to allocate three provisional licences. All provisional licence holders will need to satisfy many conditions before a full licence can be granted by the Commission.”
