Boldt contracts extended in Province of Buenos Aires
The Provincial Institute of Lottery and Casinos has extended the contracts between the agency and the company Boldt S.A. regarding its operation of six gaming rooms: Tandil Casino, Miramar Casino, Annex III Casino of Mar del Plata (Hotel Hermitage), Mar de Ajó, Annex I Casino of Mar del Plata (Hotel Sasso), and Sierra de la Ventana Casino.
Through resolution 407 published today in the Official Bulletin, the Institute approved a new extension until December 31, 2025, or until the new contract with the winning bidders in the corresponding process comes into effect, whichever occurs first.
The situation dates back to March 2019, when then-governor María Eugenia Vidal awarded control of the slot machines in most of the province’s casinos to the companies Boldt and Casinos de la Victoria. However, the bidding process for several other casinos, including those at Hermitage, Tandil, and Miramar, was declared “failed” because the bids submitted demanded profits that exceeded what the Executive was willing to accept.
In the preamble of the regulation justifying the extension, it was emphasized that “this Institute considers it relevant to guarantee the committed jobs, as well as the operation of the involved official casinos, in order to safeguard public administration interests, avoiding imminent fiscal harm, and to uphold social action, health, and safety policies.”
The resolution also emphasized that it was essential to initiate the process for extending the online system that provides Automated Electronic Gaming Machines for all these venues. This extension will take effect from the expiration date, December 31, 2024, for a duration of one year, or until the new contract with the successful bidders takes effect, whichever comes first. This will ensure that there is contractual protection for the operation of these venues.
