Cambodia – Plans emerge for $30m casino in Prey Veng

Malaysian company MQ Technology has announced plans to form a joint venture with Cambodian Resorts and Entertainment Co to build a $30m casino and theme park in Prey Veng province near Cambodia’s border with Vietnam.

MQ Technology would be responsible for the construction with Cambodian Resorts and Entertainment (CRE) taking on the role of casino operator.

Newspaper reports in Malaysia have speculated that Cambodian Resorts could have links to NagaCorp Ltd, the operator of Phnom Penh’s NagaWorld casino or to local gaming firm VW Win Holdings, a subsidiary of Century Dynasty who operates CamLoto since 2013. Chan Loong Wai, a resident of Malaysia, is listed as CRE’s board chairman, while Michael Ho, chief operating officer of VW Win Holdings, is named as a contact
