Canada – Gateway Casinos reopening poker rooms at Grand Villa Burnaby and Cascades Casino Langley

By - 6 December 2021

Gateway Casinos & Entertainment will be re-opening the poker rooms at both Grand Villa Burnaby and Cascades Casino Langley.

This announcement follows the October 26, 2021 Provincial Health Order expanding capacity to 100 per cent for businesses that require proof of vaccination, includes casinos. Previously poker was not permitted under the operating restrictions put on table games.

On re-opening, both rooms will host a $500,000 bad beat jackpot – the largest in British Columbia.  A Bad Beat is awarded when you lose with four eights or better and are beaten by a higher hand, players in the hand must use both hole cards. Both locations offer multiple food & beverage amenities including Gateway’s signature MATCH Eatery & Public House, Personas at Grand Villa Burnaby, Chow Lucky Noodle Bar and Atlas Steak +Fish.

With the health and safety of customers and employees continuing to be a top priority, the properties will adhere to all public health guidelines outlined by British Columbia’s Public Health Officer (PHO), align with guidance from BCLC and apply stringent health and safety measures that are being deployed across the entire Gateway Casinos network.

“We are excited to finally re-open several of our poker rooms and continue our steady return to full operations.  Poker is very popular amongst our customers and we are thrilled to again be able to offer this game to them,” said Rob Ward, Chief Operations Officer at Gateway Casinos.
