Canada – Karma Gaming signs deal with OpenBet

By - 17 February 2015

Karma Gaming has signed a distribution agreement with OpenBet.

Karma is reinventing instant win games by merging the thrill of winning money with the fun of casual and mobile games.

“We analyse millions of game sessions across play-for-fun gaming and real-money gambling markets including iOS, Facebook social gaming, and lottery instant win games,” said Jay Aird, Chief Innovation Officer for Karma Gaming. “We look for emerging trends and points of crossover to create innovative new products. Our next-generation games have proven to outperform the traditional instant win games in our lottery markets while also capturing a much wider audience demographic.”

Through the agreement with OpenBet, Karma will bring titles such as El Lootchador, Haunted Hotel and Secrets of the Pyramids to new markets. Haunted Hotel and Secrets of the Pyramids hold the distinction as being the first-ever episodic instant win games, featuring storylines played out over multiple chapters. Each level contains a hidden object puzzle and a crossword. Players must uncover hidden letters within the puzzle to solve the crossword to win real-money. Players can also uncover additional bonus mini-games as well as hidden clues to solve the mystery storyline, including hidden notes and artefacts.

Many of Karma’s titles include unlockable mini-games and achievements for added player excitement. Karma’s games can be played cross-platform – for online computer (Flash), mobile (native iOS and Android) as well as HTML5 mobile.

“We are thrilled to announce our relationship with OpenBet, which enables us to distribute our games to a global audience, especially European markets,” said Paul LeBlanc, CEO of Karma Gaming. “We look forward to collaborating with OpenBet and utilizing their platform and extensive knowledge base, as we continue to create new and exciting content for gaming audiences.”

Karma is based in Nova Scotia, Canada, and boasts a team with experience in both the real-money and social & mobile gaming universe, including veterans from Spielo. Karma raised a $5m series A round in 2013, with backers including the former President of Electronic Arts and the former CTO of Groupon and co-founder of Inktomi.
