Canada – Redevelopment underway at View Royal Casino

Great Canadian Gaming Corporation has reported that the long-awaited redevelopment of View Royal Casino has begun and things are progressing rapidly.
Demolition of exterior walls, roof structures and old fixtures is a daily occurrence as the property gets ready for a comprehensive overhaul.
“When we started this journey a couple of weeks ago, there were definitely a few sentimental moments as the current look and feel of View Royal Casino has been a part of this community since 2001. We will always celebrate our past, but we also want to look forward to our future as we aim to elevate the overall entertainment and gaming experience at this property,” said Chris Lynn, Executive Director of Vancouver Island, Great Canadian Gaming Corporation.
The new facility will feature a 600 person multi-purpose entertainment venue, an expansion of the gaming floor, additional slot machines and table games as well as revamped dining options which will include a buffet and a casual lounge and bar. Currently, View Royal Casino has a 20,000 square foot gaming floor, over 500 slot machines and 15 live table games.
In 2015/2016, View Royal Casino generated $4.1m in gaming revenue that was distributed through the Province to seven municipalities on the West Shore and includes the Town of View Royal, Township of Esquimalt, City of Langford, District of Highlands, District of Sooke, District of Metchosin and City of Colwood. The Town of View Royal uses its share of provincial gaming revenue to help fund library services for ten branches located in Greater Victoria and has allocated $70,000 to fund the implementation of a 15-year collaborative master plan to enhance park facilities.
