Canadian casino operator Gateway Casinos will start work on its Cascades Casino Wasaga Beach project in Ontario, Canada, in the spring of 2020, with a planned opening for late 2021.

Gateway executives confirmed the casino will be built on vacant land between Highway 26 and Beachwood Drive near the Mosley Street roundabout in the town’s west end. There will also be two restaurants.

Wasaga Beach Mayor Nina Bifolchi said: “We are thrilled that Gateway has settled on a site that will best meet its business needs, and we look forward to the construction phase starting. We will also be looking at $1.5m to $2m a year coming to the town to use for things in our communit The new casino means new direct and indirect jobs, as well as new entertainment and dining offerings. I want to thank Gateway for its continued commitment to our community.”

The project has been discussed since 2012, with Gateway chosen to build and operate the facility in March 2018. It is expected to generate 150 jobs and bring thousands back to the beach each year.
