Renovation included the addition of a dedicated gaming terrace to enrich the visitor experience
Casino JOA de Gérardmer in Vosges has revealed its new look, having completed its renovation work, nearly eight months after it began.
Planned as part of securing a new 15-year concession agreement in 2023, the project required an investment of €3m, funded by Joa. Now fully operational, the casino offers visitors an enhanced experience across both its gaming areas and dining facilities.
Lilian Castaing, the casino’s general manager, said to Journal des Casinos: “The casino has undergone a complete renovation of its gaming and dining areas. The project also saw the creation of two sports bars: one accessible to the general public outside the ID-check zone, and another located within the gaming area. Finally, a dedicated gaming terrace was created to enrich the visitor experience.’
The 50-square-meter gaming terrace features several state-of-the-art slot machines, including player favorites such as Lightning Link, Cash Connection, and video poker. To ensure customers make the most of the newly renovated areas, the gaming lineup has remained unchanged; the Joa casino continues to offer 75 slot machines, 14 electronic English roulette stations, seven electronic blackjack stations, and two blackjack tables.
“The primary goal of this renovation was to modernise the premises, enhance customer comfort, and offer a higher-quality experience,” Castaing explained.
The new dining options have been particularly well-received by visitors. The restaurant, featuring 50 indoor seats plus another 80 on the lakeside terrace, is constantly busy. The new Sports Bar and its snack menu have also proven popular, especially during World Cup broadcasts, offering 30 indoor seats and an additional 50 on the terrace. “The feedback has been very positive. This new offering was highly anticipated by both our regular clientele and passing visitors. Opening a Sports Bar that is accessible without entering the gaming area now allows everyone to enjoy a drink or a meal—including families with minors, who previously could not access the only bar located inside the gaming hall. Broadcasts of sporting events on giant screens have also been a real hit,” said Lilian Castaing.
With a concession running until 2038, the Joa Casino in Gérardmer generated a gross gaming revenue of €10.83m during the 2024–2025 fiscal year. This performance places it 85th in the national rankings.
