Chile – Revenue up by 20 per cent in Chilean casinos

Casinos in Chile recorded revenues of US$39.6m in October a 19.5 per cent increase when compared to the same month last year.

The number of visitors increased by 11 per cent and stood at 490,786 while average spend increased by 7.7 per cent to $55,802 Chilean pesos each.

In October the 16 municipalities and 11 regions where the casinos are located received a total of US$6.6m in gaming tax revenue while casinos generated an additional US$2.2m in tax on entrance fees for the state. On top of this amount the casinos also generated US$6.3m in gaming VAT.

In terms of gross revenue once again the Monticello Grand Casino came in first place with 27.3 per cent of the market share ($7.406bn). In second place came Casino Rinconada with 14.0 per cent ($3.793bn), Marina del Sol with 11.9 per cent ($3.235bn), Enjoy Antofagasta with 10.1 per cent ($2.740bn), Dreams Temuco with 7.0 per cent ($1.899bn) and Dreams Punta Arenas with 5.3 per cent ($1.447bn).

This was followed by Casino Sol Calama with 4.1 per cent ($1.117bn), Gran Casino de Talca with 3.7 per cent ($1.003bn), Dreams Valdivia with 3.7 per cent ($997m), Antay Casino & Hotel with 3.4 per cent ($917m), Casino Sol Osorno with 2.2 per cent ($592m) and Casino de Colchagua with 1.8 per cent ($501m).
This was followed by Casino de Juegos del Pacífico with 1.8 per cent ($484m), Dreams Coyhaique with 1.5 per cent ($395m), Casino Gran Los Ángeles with 1.3 per cent ($354m), and finally Enjoy Chiloé with 0.9 per cent ($252m).

According to the latest statistics released by the Chilean Gaming Control Board, the 9,744 slot machines in operation in October handed out an average of 93.8 per cent of the stake. While the total bets made on slot machines stood at US$508.5m the prizes handed out stood at US$477.1m leaving a total win for the casinos of US$31.5m.
