Chile – Sun Monticello and Viña del Mar lead Chile for October

Gross Gaming Revenue for the casinos operating in Chile including the seven municipal licences reached US57,291,888 in October according to data released by the Chilean Gaming control Board (SJC).

Of the total, the Sun Monticello came in first place with 17.0 per cent while the municipal casino in Viña del Mar came in second place with 11.6 per cent of market share.

Revenues for the casinos which already come under the supervision of the SJC stood at $26.975bn – this is a negative monthly variation of minus 3.5 per cent compared to October 2015 and an accumulated real growth of 2.6 per cent over the last 12 months.

The 500,209 visitors in October was 1.9 per cent more than it was in October 2015 recording an accumulated growth rate of 1.1 per cent over the last 12 months. On average visitors spent $53,927 pesos each minus 5.3 per cent compared to October 2015 but the casinos recorded an accumulated real growth in terms of expenditure of 1. 5 per cent over the last 12 months.

According to the latest statistics released by the board, the 10,460 slot machines in the 17 casinos which already come under the supervision of the SJC handed out an average of 93.9 per cent of the stake in October. While the total bets made on slot machines stood at $366.083bn the prizes handed out stood at $343.793bn.

In October the municipalities and regions where the casinos are located received a total of $4.405bn in gaming tax revenue from the seventeen non municipal casinos while they also generated an additional $1.611bn in tax on entrance fees for the state. On top of this amount they also generated $4.307bn in gaming VAT.

The municipal casinos which still come under the supervision of the local governments where they operate reported $11.961bn – 30.7 per cent of the total industry. This is a positive monthly variation of 4 per cent compared to October 2015 and a cumulative real growth rate of 3.6 per cent from January to October 2016 compared to the same period last year. Total visitors (not including the casino in Puerto Varas which does not record this information ) stood at 257,374 for October. However data for average visitor spend is unavailable.

In terms of gross gaming income generated by the casinos of the total of US57,291,888 the Monticello Sun came in first place with 17 per cent ($6.601bn). Casino Viña del Mar came in second place with 11.6 per cent ($4.506bn) and Casino Rinconada came in third place with 9.3 per cent (3.625bn). Marina del Sol Talcahuano 9.0 per cent ($3.521bn).
