China – Macau’s casino revenue up 228.8 per cent in October

By - 3 November 2020

Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) has confirmed that the SAR’s 41 casinos experienced a 228.8 per cent jump in gross gaming revenue (GGR) in October compared to September, making it the highest total since January.

With the individual visit scheme (IVS) allowing mainland tourists to travel to Macau again from September 23, October was the first full month to benefit. Revenues increased from MOP2.21bn in September to MOP7.27bn (US$910.9m) in October, still 72.5 per cent down on last year’s October total, but marking the smallest year-on-year decline since January.

The sector’s revenue is currently down by 81.4 per cent for the year so far to MOP 45.87bn.
