Croatia – SuperSport launches Croatia’s first online poker site

SuperSport has launched Croatia’s first licensed online poker room, adding poker to its casino and sports betting site.

Having become the 28th member state of the European Union in July 2013, Croatia had changes to its gambling laws approved by the European Commission in November 2014. However, not much has happened in the country since then. Land-based operators can apply for an annual licence that costs €600,000 a year.

SuperSport operates over 300 land-based slot halls and sports betting shops along with one casino and has been present in the local market for 13 years.

The operator expects around 95 per cent of its customer base to be Croatian. It launched its sports betting site seven years ago and added an online casino at the turn of the year.
SuperSport Head of Poker Vedran Katic revealed that the first day of online poker for SuperSport generating a peak of 190 players.
