Czech Republic – Slots and lotteries law amendments

By - 20 May 2014

The government of the Czech Republic has notified the European Commission of a draft Bill amending the Act No. 202/1990 on lotteries and other similar games (which covers lotteries, sports betting, horse race betting, bingo, slot machines and casinos). The Act sets the limits to the maximum amounts wagered and the highest win per game widening the regulation from slots machines to other gaming devices in casinos. Lotteries Act specifies the amount wagered on one game (2CZK-5CZK in the slot halls and 50CZK in casinos), the highest win per game (300CZK-750CZK in slot halls and 50,000 CZK in casinos), the highest hourly Loss ( 1,000CZK-2,000CZK in slot halls and 10,000 CZK in the casino).

The above limits apply only to slot machines and do not apply to other technical gaming devices. Along with the above proposed changes must be applied to technical gaming device provisions regarding the upper limits payback percentage, as well as limits to determine the highest cumulative winnings in terms of linked gaming devices in slot halls (10,000CZK) and casinos (100,000CZK ). Besides that, the Draft changes the period for authorisation for technical gaming devices to one year. The standstill period ends in July 24, 2014.
