ECA holds Working Group on Security and Safety at Casino Lugano in Switzerland
Event included dedicated focus on Artificial Intelligence
The European Casino Association (ECA) Working Group on Security and Safety came together on April 8 to 9, 2026, for its annual workshop, hosted at the magnificent Casino Lugano in Switzerland.
This year’s programme delivered exceptional content across the themes that matter most to security, surveillance and safety professionals in the European casino sector: armed robbery prevention and response, advantage play and cheating detection, organised crime on the gaming floor, RFID table game security, employee fraud investigation, and the rapidly growing field of Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) as a practical tool for casino security teams. A particular highlight was the dedicated focus on Artificial Intelligence, examining both the AI-powered surveillance solutions already deployed across European casinos and, critically, how AI is being exploited as a threat against casino operations, and what countermeasures are available.

The Working Group has already begun planning next year’s programme, with ambitions to build on this year’s momentum — deepening the focus on emerging technologies, cross-sector intelligence sharing, and the evolving regulatory landscape. The ECA Security & Safety Workshop 2027 will take place on April 13 to 14, 2027 with the venue to be announced soon.
