France – Cabourg to launch casino tender as it looks to relaunch its theatre

By - 8 October 2020

The municipal council of Cabourg, a commune in the Calvados department in the Normandy region of France, on the coast of the English Channel, will launch a call for applications for the casino.

Currently operated by the Partouche group, the Cabourg casino generated gross gaming revenue of €6.7m (+ 7.16 per cent) at the end of the 2018-2019 financial year had achieved, placing it 114th among 202 French casinos.

The town hall wants to take the opportunity to relaunch the theater, which is currently part of the concession. The auditorium has a capacity for at least 550 seats, although the space is currently used as part of the gaming floor.

One option is for the new owners to transfer the games to the Garage Palace, a building which is currently used for storage for the City’s services. Set back from the seafront, in the city center, the Garage Palace could be transformed into a 4-star hotel.

Tristan Duval, the mayor of Cabourg, said: “We will see as and when what the possibilities are. What we want is to recover the theater, but this creates major issues that commits the city to several mandates.”
