France – French casinos shut until at least mid February

By - 11 January 2021

French Prime Minister Jean Castex has confirmed that in the current state of the epidemic, it would be impossible to ‘consider relaxing the curfew currently in force’ with a possible reopening ‘postponed to at least mid-February.’

“Museums, cinemas, theaters, theaters, sports and leisure facilities will not experience any relaxation in the coming weeks,” said Mr. Castex. An appointment has been set for January 20 with the professionals concerned to see if it will be possible to reopen these different activities and under what conditions, from the beginning of February.

Ten new departments, mainly in eastern France, could be added to the 15 for which the curfew has already been lowered to 6 p.m.

For ski resorts, some of which host casinos, the objective, said Mr. Castex, is to be able to indicate whether they will be able to open two weeks later, for the start of the school holidays.
