France – High-flying Partouche says it is ‘impossible to quantify’ impact of coronavirus ‘at this stage’

By - 16 March 2020

The Partouche group’s first quarter of the year, running from November to January, generated €126.7m, up 8.6 per cent boosted by an increase in attendance of 10.8 per cent.

Gross gaming revenue was up 8.4 per cent, reaching €174.8m, driven both by slot machines, up 5.1 per cent to €115.1m, and table games up 20.2 per cent to €28.4m, with electronic table games up 31.7 per cent. Abroad, the strong growth in online games and bets in Belgium continued with an increase of 29.5 per cent.

The group also underlined ‘the good performance of the Hotels sector, up 12.9 per cent to € 1.4m despite being hampered by the renovation of half of the rooms at the Aquabella hotel in Aix-en- Provence.

The group said it was ‘cautious’ about the rest of the year, noting that ‘the appearance and rapid development of the Covid-19 epidemic in France, could have an impact on the number of visitors and the activity of our establishments. However, it is impossible to quantify this impact at this stage, and the Group’s priority is to protect the health of its employees and customers by implementing adequate health measures.’
