France – Magic Jackpot makes its last French millionaire

The Magic Jackpot, the Wide Area Progressive linking 100 casinos and 300 slots across France since the Autumn of 2009, is to be replaced with a system awarding smaller but more frequent jackpots.
The WAP, installed by Atronic now GTech, has distributed nearly €50m in four years.
This game, which requires up to €1.5 rewarded its 11th and final eleventh and final jackpot of €2,079,428 on November 1, an amount won at Casino Barriere de Royan in Charente-Maritime.
The casino operators believe focusing on distributing smaller but more frequent jackpots will make the link even more popular. The record jackpot was at Joa Casino Port Crouesty in Morbihan, where €9.4m jackpot was won on March 28, 2011. The second biggest prize came at the Casino Barrière of Saint Raphael in the Var region, where €7.52m was won at the end of July.
