France – Partouche to invest Є26.7m in Saint-Amand les Eaux with 230 new slots

By - 21 June 2021

The municipal council of Saint-Amand les Eaux (North) unanimously approved, at its meeting on Thursday, June 10, the continuation of the licence to operate the city’s casino, for 20 years, to Groupe Partouche.

Partouche has committed to invest Є26.7m, in order to expand the current casino, built in 2004. The restaurant will be moved to the entrance of the establishment, with a partially covered terrace and animproved offer. The gaming floor will also be enlarged, the surface area of the two reception rooms doubled and an outdoor terrace built.

Partouche will apply for an operating license for 500 machines, the maximum allowed, instead of the current 270.

The continuation of the licence was an unsurprising choice for elected officials as Partouche group was the only operator to have applied this time. The Belgian company of the Grand Casino de Dinant, which had canceled the previous procedure, had indicated by letter to the municipality that it would not submit an offer this time.

The previous concession had been canceled in January 2020 by the summary judge of the administrative court of Lille (North) who had ruled in favor of the ousted competitor – Grand Casino de Dinant from the DR Gaming Technology group – who felt that he had not been sufficiently informed of the extent of the needs of the municipality.

The coronavirus pandemic then derailed the economic power of many operators in the sector, with cash flow strained for many.

The mayor of Saint-Amand les Eaux, Alain Bocquet is now waiting for the date of June 30, which will mark the end of possible appeals against the new specifications.
