France – Partouche’s Forges les Eaux licence challenged

By - 4 October 2021

An appeal had been filed against the municipal council of Forges-les-Eaux (Seine-Maritime) by the Forges Avenir association for the casino license signed between the city and the operating company of the casino of Forges les Eaux du Partouche group.

Jacques Van Tol, Presiednt of the Forges Avenir association wants the withdrawal of the contract signed on July 9, considering that it ‘includes very many irregularities vis-à-vis the Public Procurement Code.’

“Gambling revenue is public money,” said Mr. Van Tol, “and everything that the Partouche group has used to finance these goods goes to the community. I say that the inhabitants have been robbed.”

The mayor of the town, Christine Lesueur, said: “The casino does not belong to us and that if we asked that the municipality be the owner of the establishment, you can imagine that we could not bear all the costs of functioning. Two sentences seem to be inconsistent to them,” she added. “We are working on it”
