France – Vikings Casinos delays renovation project at the Hotel des Thermes in Vittel

French casino operator Vikings Casinos is postponing a renovation project at the Hotel des Thermes in Vittel (Vosges), which should host a casino in mid-2023, until the beginning of the summer, due to the containment to stem the epidemic of coronavirus.

Vikings Managing Director, Luc Le Borgne, unveiled the renovation project on February 29, when the casino concession it has operated since 2007 had just been renewed for 20 years. The cost of the planned investment is €14m to €17m, to redo the Hôtel des Thermes, with local architect Stéphane Deloy to transform the crumbling building into a luxury establishment, of 3 or 4 stars. It has been unoccupied for more than 40 years.

The future casino will be housed on the ground floor of the Hotel des Thermes, with a surface area of ​​1,108 m2, 100 slot machines, electronic table games and traditional games and a restaurant of 363 m2. A car park with 68 parking spaces is planned in the basement. Approximately €3.5m has been budgeted to transfer the casino, currently located in the Mercure hotel.

The opening could take place in the spring of 2023, before the Rugby World Cup. With the idea of ​​being able to welcome one of the foreign teams for its preparation.
